Home Master Guide Shipping & Storage

Shipping, Towing & Storage

Proper transport and storage protocols are essential to prevent damage to the SKOOP loader's mechanical and hydraulic systems. Adhere strictly to the following manufacturer guidelines when relocating or deactivating the machine for extended periods.

Danger: Refueling or emptying the fuel tank during shipping preparations poses serious fire risks. Smoking, open flames, and sparks are strictly prohibited[cite: 650].

Shipping Procedures

Follow these steps to prepare the loader for freight or transport[cite: 648]:

  • Hoisting: Use sturdy ropes to lift the loader only at the marked lifting points[cite: 653].
  • Battery: Disconnect the battery cable but keep the battery secured in its original position[cite: 655, 656].
  • Radiator: Drain all coolant from the radiator and engine cylinder block[cite: 658].
  • Fuel System: Discharge fuel into a dedicated container[cite: 660]. Disconnect the fuel line at its lowest point to drain completely, then reconnect the lines[cite: 661, 662]. Keep the fuel tank cap loose during shipping[cite: 663].
  • Securing: Lock the front and rear frames together using locking plates[cite: 669]. Use wooden blocks to wedge all tires to prevent movement during transit[cite: 672].

Traction & Towing

The SKOOP loader is designed for hydrostatic drive; therefore, towing must be limited to short distances only[cite: 675].

  • Rigid Towing: Only rigid components (traction bars) are permitted for towing[cite: 677].
  • Traction Point: The towing pin is located behind the counterweight[cite: 684]. The maximum permissible traction force is 20 kN[cite: 695].
  • Speed Limit: Traction speed must never exceed 5 km/h[cite: 695].
  • Bypass Valve: You must manually open the bypass valve on the plunger pump before moving the machine to prevent hydraulic damage[cite: 686].
  • Monitoring: Pay close attention to hydraulic oil temperature during traction; it must not exceed the pump's maximum allowable limit[cite: 695].

Long-Term Storage

If the machine will be out of service for an extended period, follow these preservation steps[cite: 696]:

  • Temperature Range: Ensure the storage area maintains a temperature between -30°C and 50°C[cite: 703].
  • Tire Protection: The loader should be raised and the axles locked to prevent tires from contacting the ground[cite: 699]. Reduce tire pressure to 15 psi and apply tire protectant[cite: 699].
  • Hydraulics: Drain and refill the hydraulic oil tank[cite: 697]. Note that prolonged storage may damage hydraulic system seals[cite: 704].
  • Battery Maintenance: Remove the battery and store it separately in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight[cite: 701]. Inspect and slow-charge the battery every two months[cite: 701].
  • Lubrication: Re-lubricate the wheel hub bearings and ensure all daily lubrication points are covered with waterproof multi-purpose grease[cite: 701, 1188].
